Combined heat and power generation

CHP (Combined heat and power), often called cogeneration is the simultaneous generation of useful heat and power (generally electricity).
Since electricity generation is mainly done via turbines or internal combustion engines, it results in heat production.
By making a rational use of this heat, input energy required for a combined heat and power system is considerably lower than the isolated generation of both and therefore reduces the energy consumption, CO2 emissions and energy bill.
